Landscape Lighting

Luxury Lighting Designed Around Your Home & Landscape

Landscape lighting should shape how your architecture, trees, paths, and outdoor living areas appear after dark. At Landmark Design Company, we create a custom design for each property rather than installing a pre-packaged lighting system. Every plan considers fixture placement, beam direction, brightness, shadows, and the balance between illuminated and unlit areas. Layers of architectural lighting, path lighting, uplighting, and hardscape lighting create depth without making the property feel overly bright.

Lighting That Reveals Your Home’s Character

We believe that key features define each home’s character. We strategically illuminate elements such as form, angles, and texture to showcase the home in three dimensions. Our attention to detail and custom designs transform a home into a bold architectural statement.

DESIGN LAYERS
Types of Landscape Lighting
Each layer draws attention to a different part of the property.
Architectural Lighting
Emphasizes facades, columns, rooflines, stonework, and other structural details.
Path Lighting
Defines walkways and transitions between outdoor spaces.
Uplighting
Draws attention to mature trees, planting, and vertical focal points.
Hardscape Lighting
Supports steps, walls, patios, and other built landscape features where appropriate.

We treat the backyard as an extension of your home and personal style. Subtle illumination can bring warmth and depth to trees, pools, hardscapes, and outdoor living areas while preserving the atmosphere of the property. The goal isn’t to light everything equally. It’s to create a balanced composition that feels natural from the home, the street, and the spaces where you spend time outside.

We use premium commercial-grade LED fixtures and components in our installations. Careful positioning and aiming help limit glare, harsh hotspots, and distracting views of the fixtures themselves. Each recommendation is based on what works for the property rather than the size or price of a packaged system.

How It Works
The Landscape Lighting Process
1
FREE CONSULTATION
We walk your property and discuss the architecture, landscape, paths, outdoor living areas, and features you want to emphasize. After understanding your priorities, budget, and how you use the space, we develop a custom design and estimate.
2
A PLAN YOU CAN SEE
We know that most people spend a lot of money and time planning their dream homes and outdoor living spaces. We want to make sure that you know exactly what you’re getting with this landscape lighting company. That’s why we walk you through the lighting plan for your home and backyard, so you understand what we recommend and why before you ever make a financial commitment.
3
INSTALLATION
Our project manager coordinates the installation team and approved lighting plan, confirming fixture locations, wiring routes, and system component placement. We install according to the design, take care around established landscaping, hardscapes, and outdoor living areas, and leave the yard clean and functional.
4
FINAL ADJUSTMENT
After installation, we conduct a final nighttime walk-through under actual conditions and can refine fixture aiming, beam direction, glare control, brightness, and the relationship between illuminated areas. This review accounts for the completed installation and current property conditions so the finished composition reflects the priorities established during the consultation.

Designed Around Your Property We walk the property with you and recommend a plan that suits it, not a generic package or sales pitch.

The right lighting does not ask the property to become something else. It lets stonework, trees, paths, water, and outdoor living spaces carry the evening with more depth and ease.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Good Questions, Straight Answers

  • Can landscape lighting improve visibility around a property at night?

Yes. Outdoor lighting can improve visibility along walkways, entrances, and steps after dark. Effective placement accounts for glare, shadows, viewing angles, and how each area is used. Landscape lighting can support nighttime visibility, but it shouldn’t be treated as a guaranteed security measure or a replacement for other property safety measures.

  • What maintenance does landscape lighting require?

Landscape lighting may require periodic fixture cleaning, vegetation trimming, and checks of wiring and fixture aim. Maintenance needs vary with weather, landscape growth, and soil movement. Trees and shrubs can gradually block beams, while normal outdoor conditions can leave dirt or mineral buildup on lenses.

  • How does landscape lighting avoid glare and overly bright spots?

We control glare and overly bright spots through careful fixture placement, beam direction, shielding, appropriate brightness, and color temperature. We also consider viewing angles and sightlines to neighboring properties.

  • What should be considered when planning landscape lighting for a large property?

For a large property, separately controlled lighting areas or a phased design may help organize the system. Planning should also account for how the property is viewed from different locations after dark.
