About Landmark Design Company
Good outdoor lighting shouldn’t compete with a property. At Landmark Design Company, we build our work around landscape lighting and Christmas lighting, with each design shaped by the home rather than a pre-packaged system. Our style is warm, balanced, and restrained. It brings out the architecture, trees, and outdoor spaces people use at night.
We serve Richardson and surrounding communities across greater Dallas, including many of Dallas’ prestigious neighborhoods.

Three Guys Who Grew Up Together, Still Working Side by Side
We started Landmark Design Company as three guys who grew up together: two lifelong friends and one of their brothers. That history still shapes how we work. Our clients get to know us, and we get to know their homes.
We work primarily on luxury homes and regularly serve clients and custom builders who expect close attention to detail, professionalism, and quality. We also design lighting for commercial properties.
Designed Around Your Property
We don’t ask clients to select a pre-packaged system. We’re design-driven, not sales-driven. Every project begins with a personal consultation where we walk the property with you, learn what you’re looking for, and build a plan around your home.
We start with the home itself. We study its architecture, materials, and landscaping. Trees, hardscapes, and pools also shape the design. We consider outdoor living areas and street presence, along with the way the property feels at night.
Our recommendations reflect what will actually work for the property and your goals, not the biggest or most expensive system. We work through the options with you until the plan makes sense.
Warm, Balanced Lighting from Design Through Installation
Brighter isn’t automatically better. We design for warmth, depth, and balance while limiting glare, harsh hotspots, and unnecessary over-lighting.
We coordinate each part as one complete lighting system:
- Architectural lighting and uplighting. These elements bring definition and dimension to facades, trees, and selected landscape features.
- Path and hardscape lighting. These elements integrate light into walks, steps, walls, and transitions between outdoor spaces.
During planning, we work through fixture placement, beam direction, and brightness. We also plan wiring and controls, and we identify spaces that should remain visually quiet.
We use premium, commercial-grade LED fixtures and components. Our team installs the planned system and reviews its operation. We adjust aiming and light levels to improve balance, shadows, and visibility. We leave the property clean with the system fully working.
Christmas Lighting, Same Standard
Our Christmas lighting follows the same property-specific design philosophy. We create refined displays that complement the architecture and landscape. We use garland and wreaths, and we design tree wraps at a scale that fits the property.
The same team designs, installs, and maintains the display. We also handle removal and storage. We use our own commercial-grade Christmas lights. Everything is labeled and prepared for the next season, and returning Christmas lighting clients receive a discount.
Walk the Property with Us
A thoughtful plan starts with your property, your priorities, and how you want the space to look after dark. During your consultation, we’ll turn those details into a cohesive lighting plan.

Good Questions, Straight Answers
-
What Factors Affect the Cost of Outdoor Lighting?
Cost depends on the property size, project scope, and installation complexity. A plan covering several structures or extensive landscaping generally involves different requirements than one focused on an entry or patio. A property consultation lets us assess those factors before developing a proposal.
-
How Long Does a Landscape Lighting Project Take?
Timing varies with project scope, site conditions, and fixture availability. A focused project may require less time than a layered design covering architecture, paths, trees, and outdoor living spaces. We can provide a clearer schedule after evaluating the property and proposed design.
-
When Should I Schedule Christmas Lighting in Richardson?
Scheduling earlier in the Christmas season generally provides more flexibility for design decisions, installation timing, and maintenance planning. The right timing depends on the property, display complexity, and preferred installation period. Contact our team before your desired display date so we have time to discuss those details.
-
How Do I Choose Landscape Lighting, Christmas Lighting, or Both?
Landscape lighting supports year-round nighttime visibility and presentation, while Christmas lighting creates a seasonal display. The right choice depends on how you use the property and how you want it to look at night. During a consultation, we can determine whether one service addresses your priorities or whether both should follow a consistent design.
-
What Should I Consider Before Adding Outdoor Lighting?
Consider which areas need illumination, the most important viewing angles, and fixture placement. It’s also useful to account for glare, future landscape growth, and how people move through the property after dark. These details help define where light belongs and where darkness should remain part of the design.
-
Can Lighting Work with Existing Landscaping & Hardscapes?
A new design can account for existing landscaping, hardscapes, and outdoor living areas. Fixture placement and light direction should respond to those conditions rather than compete with them. What we can incorporate depends on site access, power requirements, and the proposed design.
